At 15 times the speed of 56k dialup, this option gives you true DSL speed for only $5.95 more per month. And, NO Setup Fee if you purchase it within three days of your sign up for our ISP service. Afterwards, pay a small setup fee of only $10. To Cancel, call 1-888-265-8008. (We recommend calling the Cancellations department. When we called, AOL offered to give us a free month of service to consider staying a customer. If you are not quite certain about switching, this would give you a free month to decide if our service is best for you. It is a win situation for you.)

PLEASE NOTE: If you choose to write or fax, please include your full name as it is for the primary account holder (master screen name), address, phone number, America Online master screen name and an explanation that you wish to cancel the service. Cancellation will take effect within 72 hours of receipt of your request and AOL will send you written confirmation.
Note: If you cancel near the end of your billing period, you may be charged for the next month's fee. If that happens, contact AOL Billing at 1-888-265-8003 to have the charges reversed. (Another reason to all the cancellation line)

ALTERNATIVES to Canceling AOL:
For most people, leaving AOL is a matter of having a lot of information they don't want to lose. Here are some alternatives to cancellation if you are just not ready to completely dump AOL. It took me three months to get seven years of data transferred but I was under severe time constraints due to my focus being on our ISP and various other ministries.

You have two different options.
Downgrading to a minimum usage account or moving to their Bring Your Own Access (BYOA) plan

We recommend calling AOL to do this. However, you may also do it yourself online as noted below.

Downgrade your account.
Sign on to your AOL account.
Enter Keyword: cancel then follow the instructions to change your account to a $4.95 (3 hours per month) minimum usage.
Please understand that AOL will charge you a hefty premium if you use excess time. (See getting your email without connecting to AOL, below)

AOL Bring Your Own Access
Go to Keyword Billing - then to Bring Your Own Access.
With Bring Your Own Access, you pay $14.95 per month for unlimited access but you connect through our ISP service instead of using the AOL dialer. This gives you complete access to AOL just as if you hadn't made any changes. This is also a temporary solution for those of you who are timid about getting your feet wet or who just rebel at the notion of Change.

Getting your AOL (or other POP3 email) without connecting to AOL.
The Downgrade account will keep your AOL account active so you can continue to receive e-mail but you will have a very limited number of hours of use. That means you will have to be very frugal about getting your email. The good news is that it isn't necessary to connect to AOL to read your e-mail. You can access it through your Outlook or Outlook Express email account that we set up for you.
